Raj Thackeray's MNS office burgled

Last updated on: October 19, 2010 16:24 IST
Every one in Mumbai needs protection from thieves, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray is no exception. A day after it came to light that a whole safe from his office in second floor was stolen, MNS functionaries decided to take measures that they should have done earlier, installing a safety grill on their second floor office from where the safe was stolen.

On Tuesday, MNS workers were seen supervising workers who were put up a grill on the second floor of MNS headquarters 'Rajgad'. MNS functionaries were highly embarrassed on Monday when they came to know that a safe at the party's office in the second floor of the building was missing. The safe contained Rs 5,000 and two cheque books, said functionaries.

After much dilly-dallying a complaint was filed at the Shivaji Park police station, which registered a case.

Police officials said that the safe was probably stolen on Sunday night and the
thieves could have entered the premises through the lower floor of the building that is almost like a open terrace."Since the windows were open with no grills it was easy for any one to enter and exit."said a police officer from Shivaji park on condition ofanonymity.

For the MNS the theft was a huge embarrassment as it was obvious that someone didnt care about the party and the influence it wields in Mumbai. The building itself is teeming with MNS functionaries throughout the day, as the ground floor
houses the office of the MNS student wing.

The building was been constructed by Raj Thackeray's Matoshree realtors. For now the Shivaji Park police suspect that the thieves could have conducted a recce of the place before striking, they are also probing whether any drug addicts were involved in the crime. What baffles the cops is that even at the dead of the night no one saw a huge safe being carried away.
