Thrice-married controversial writer of Indian origin Salman Rushdie is reported to be 'depressed' after parting company with his companion Padma Lakshmi, a British tabloid has reported.
Rushdie (55), currently in London for the stage adaptation of his Booker Prize-winning novel Midnight's Children, split with Chennai-born Lakshmi before Christmas, The Mail on Sunday reported.
Chennai-born Lakshmi, who speaks five languages, runs her own film company in New York and has done a bit of writing by way of a low-fat recipe book, reportedly told friends that she was bored with Rushdie.
Rushdie can perhaps take comfort from the success of the stage version of Midnight's Children, which is running to full house at the Barbican Theatre in London.
