Defence and energy security cooperation are expected to figure in the talks Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will have with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday in Moscow after attending the 60th anniversary celebrations of the victory of the Soviet forces over Germany in World War II.

Dr Singh, who leaves on Sunday on the three-day visit, will have wide-ranging discussions with Putin on strengthening cooperation in defence and energy security, besides IT, banking and other areas.

They are expected to review the progress in bilateral ties since their last summit in New Delhi in December.

Rajiv Dogra, additional secretary in the external affairs ministry, said the celebrations would begin on Monday morning with a military parade in Moscow's Red Square and would be followed by the leaders laying wreaths at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The Russian president will host a lunch for the leaders after which he will meet Dr Singh.

Dr Singh will be among the very few leaders, including United States President George Bush and Chinese President Hu Jintao, with whom Putin will have one-to-one meetings.
