February 22, 2013 11:48 IST

Both Houses of Parliament were on Friday adjourned till noon after the Bharatiya Janata Party-led opposition created a ruckus over Thursday’s twin blasts in Hyderabad in which at least 14 people were killed and several others injured.

In the Rajya Sabha, the BJP said it wanted a debate on the Hyderabad blasts and refused to let the upper house function.

Minister of State for Home R P N Singh told the house that Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had gone to Hyderabad and would probably make a statement in Parliament after he returned to the national capital at 2.30 pm.

After failing to restore calm in the house, Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari adjourned proceedings till noon.

Similar scenes were witnessed in the Lok Sabha.

Earlier, Shinde who visited the twin bomb blasts site at Dilsukhnagar in Hyderabad, said 14 people were killed in the blast and around 110 were injured.

He then went to the bus shelter about 150 meters away where the second blast killed another six people and left many injured.

Shinde, accompanied by Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Union Home Secretary N K Singh, later visited some hospitals where the injured persons were undergoing treatment.

Two powerful, near simultaneous bomb blasts ripped through a crowded area close to a cluster of bus stands in Dilsukhnagar area in Hyderabad on Thursday.
