The police on Thursday seized Rs 92.86 lakh in cash and 1.5 kg of gold ornaments from the Mohali residence of Anuradha Bali alias Fiza, the estranged second wife of former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan, three days after she was found dead under mysterious circumstances.

The special investigation team searched Fiza's house in Sector 48C and found Rs 92.86 lakh in cash and 1.5 kg of gold ornaments in a ground floor almirah, police said.

Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the SIT took all the recoveries in its procession in the presence of a magistrate and was also verifying about Fiza's two bank accounts.

Sources said that police will be investigating the sources of money.

Meanwhile, police again questioned Fiza's uncle Satpal in length, they said.

After Fiza's body found in her house on Monday, Satpal came to the house late in the night to take the car and some documents from the house but was sent back by the police guard.

He again came to the house on Tuesday and was again sent back by the guard. Satpal somehow took away both mobiles of Fiza but these were recovered by the police on same day, the sources said.

Police said the SIT has questioned more than 15 people who were said to be close to Fiza including Satpal.

50 CDs have also been recovered from the house including one containing Chander Mohan's SMSes, calls and their marriage photographs.

Besides, the police had taken possession of Fiza's Honda CRV and Santro car on Wednesday.

Bhullar said that police are committed to solve the case and denied media reports that Chandra Mohan's brother Haryana Janhit Congress chief Kuldeep Bishnoi was under investigation.

He, however, maintained that police are probing every angle and he would be able to say something only after a detailed inquiry.

Rs 72 lakh of the seized curency was in denomination of Rs 1000, Rs 18 lakh was in Rs 500 notes and around 2 lakh in Rs 100 notes, police said.

Meanwhile, officials said that the recovered money and ornaments would be deposited with the treasury under safe custody of police which will be presented to court as case property later.

39-year-old Bali, a former Assistant Advocate General of Haryana, was found dead in her house in Mohali on Monday.

Bali had hogged the limelight after her marriage with Chandermohan in 2008 when he was the Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana in the Congress government.

Having remained incommunicado for several days, the couple had resurfaced after embracing Islam and Bali changing her name to Fiza and Chander Mohan to Chand Mohammed. Their 'nikaah' was solemnised in Meerut in November, 2008. The marriage lasted 40 days.

Relations soured between the two and Fiza had attempted suicide last year.

However, after his controversial marriage, Chander Mohan was disowned by his father and former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal but later on Chander Mohan was accepted in family fold.
