Rs 20L for kin of 2 IAF personnel killed in crash: UP CM

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday announced a compensation of Rs 20 lakh to the families of two Indian Air Force personnel from this state killed in the Indian Air Force chopper crash in Uttarakhand.

The two of the air force personnel, who were killed on Tuesday in the crash include Sudhakar, who hailed from Santkabir Nagar, and the other is Akhilesh Pratap from Jagdishpur, Amethi, official sources said.

The government would give Rs 20 lakh assistance to their kin while taking responsibility of free education to their wards, Akhilesh Yadav told mediapersons.

While condoling the death of all those killed in the crash on Tuesday, Yadav said that the courage showed by these personnel would always be remembered. Also, Rs one crore has been donated by Kripaluji Maharaj to CM's relief fund for the flood-hit Uttarakhand.

Asked about arrangements to evacuate those from the state, Akhilesh all possible steps have been taken and still over 700 people are missing.

He said that state would provide all possible help to the tragedy hit Uttrakhand. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to give Uttrakahand Rs 350.79 crore, which it had to give to the state under the pension head in installments, said an official release of the state government.

In 2009-2010, after the division of pension expenses of the employees between the two states, UP had to pay Rs 350.79 crore to Uttrakhand, the release said.

It was decided that the amount would be paid in installments, but due to the tragedy there, the chief minister has decided to give the amount immediately so that it could be used in providing relief to the people, it added.
