Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of 67th Republic Day urged the nation to reaffirm the unwavering commitment to uphold the ideals of India's Constitution and strengthen the Republic.

"Today we remember all the great women and men who contributed in the framing of our Constitution. I salute, Dr, BabaSaheb Ambedkar, who as the chairman of the drafting committee, provide exceptional leadership during the making of the constitution. Our constitution is extensive and elaborate. It is not merely a legal document but also a social document. It does no talk of rights only but even emphasis on duties," he said.

"A few weeks ago, the Crop Insurance Scheme was cleared by the Cabinet. This scheme marks a paradigm shift in the agricultural sector. For the first time, our hardworking farmers will be provided a comprehensive security cover. Through this scheme, we are telling our farmer sisters and brothers that they are never alone and that the Government stands shoulder to shoulder with them in their endeavours," he added.

He also heaped praises on the 'Start up India' movement, saying that it reflects the new age India and celebrates the aspirations and talents of the youth.

"This month also witnessed the launch of 'Start up India' movement. 'Star up India' reflects the new age India and celebrates the aspirations and talents of the youth. We envision India to be the 'Start up capital' where big ideas are conceived and take shape. I have faith in the youth of India, who will lead this start up revolution," he said.

The prime minister also saluted the security forces for steadfastly protecting the country, its borders, seas and skies.

"I salute our armed forces and paramilitary forces that are protecting our country, our borders, seas and skies steadfastly. India will remain forever grateful to them for their valour," he said.

He also thanked French President Francois Hollande who will be presiding as the chief guest on the Republic Day celebrations.

"I would like to thank President Hollande for gracing the Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest," he said.
