The Maharashtra government on Monday suspended anti-narcotics cell inspector Anil Jadhav, who was arrested in connection with a raid on a rave party held in Raigad district.

Jadhav, who was arrested early on Monday, has been suspended pending an inquiry, a senior official said.
According to police, five persons, including Jadhav, were arrested in connection with the rave party where drugs were provided for the youths for consumption.

Over 300 youngsters were rounded up during a police raid at a rave party in a hotel on Sunday evening in Mumbai's neighbouring Raigad district. Police said that most of those rounded-up were in the age-group of 20 to 25 and have been taken for medical test.

"All the youths were let off after medical examination. After receiving the medical reports, we will initiate appropriate action against the consumers of drugs," Raigad Deputy SP Namrata Patil said.

Ten youths were also detained during the raid at hotel Mount View at Karjat, 100 km away from Mumbai, they said, adding that a large quantity of drugs has been recovered from the hotel.

The party had been organised by a firm Beyond Logic in Mount View resort at Khalapur near Karjat.

Beyond Logic had sent invitations for the party through social networking sites such as Facebook under the pretext of Shanti Jatra 2011 a promo party for a Nepali festival dedicated to Mother Earth.

Besides live music by DJs DJ Jane Bourbounese, DJ Starling and DJ Raveholic and others Beyond Logic had promised "wide variety of exciting cocktails and food.

Interestingly, among those detained from the rave party included a anti-narcotics cell officer inspector Anil Jadhav. However, Jadhav claimed that he was undercover and had arrived at the party to assist the police in nabbing the organisers.

The police raid, ironically, came at a day when the entire country observed 'Anti-Narcotics Day'
