The South African model, who was allegedly raped in a hotel in Mumbai, Thursday identified two accused before a magistrate in an identification parade, police said.
The model identified Sunil Morpani and Suresh Krishnani, two persons accused of drugging and later allegedly raping her for two days at several hotels in neighbouring Kalyan, in the central jail in Mumbai, police said adding, it was a major step in the process to prosecute them.
Assistant Commissoner of Poice Pralhad Sonawane, the officer supervising the probe, told PTI the model had identified the accused during the identification parade held before a magistrate.
With her role in the investigation process almost coming to an end, the model is planning to return to Durban in South Africa, where her father runs a supermarket, the sources said adding, the police has asked her to wait for a week or two so that the investigation process requiring her presence could be completed.
The model, who had visited Hotel Bawa International in suburban Vile Parle to meet its owner and was drugged in the Avalon pub of the hotel before being allegedly raped, is deeply traumatised by the incident and wants to go back to Durban to seek psychiatric help, sources said.
"She is bent on going back, but I have advised her to wait for at least two weeks before her role in the probe is over," the model's lawyer, Falguni Bramhabhatt told PTI.
