Rape victim demands CBI probe against IAS officer

February 03, 2014 10:09 IST

The 23-year-old woman who was allegedly raped by IAS officer B B Mohanty on Sunday demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the case.

She also demanded the immediate arrest of the IAS officer, who has been absconding since the FIR was lodged.

The Rajasthan government has not taken any action against the slow investigation by state police which could not arrest the accused, and did not even search his home, the victim told a press conference in Jaipur.

"I demand that the CBI should probe the case. I will also meet Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje to request her to take stern action in the case and ensure justice to me," she said.

The victim said she had already met state women's commission Chairperson Ladkumari Jain and submitted all the relevant details.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South, Sanjay Shrotriya said that a search would be conducted at Mohanty's residence in Mahesh Nagar on Monday as the police had procured the search warrant last week.

The victim's statement has already been recorded, he said.

In her complaint on January 25, the woman alleged that the IAS officer B B Mohanty, chairman of the Rajasthan Civil Services Appellate Tribunal, had raped her repeatedly last year after promising to help her clear the civil services examination.
