Ramlila drama: JD-U wants Prime Minister, Home Minister to resign

June 06, 2011 14:21 IST

Bihar's Janata Dal (United) State President, Vasisht Narain Singh, on Monday demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on moral grounds over the forceful eviction of yoga guru Baba Ramdev and his followers from Delhi's Ramlila grounds on Saturday.

Staging a day-long dharna in Patna along with hundreds of JD-U leaders and workers, Singh said that Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram should take responsibility for what happened and resign. "Both Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram have no right to continue," he said.

Singh urged Baba Ramdev to intensify his movement against corruption. "JD-U is with Baba Ramdev's campaign against corruption" he said.

Meanwhile, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, Sushil Kumar Modi, joined the BJP dharna to protest police action against Baba Ramdev and his followers.
