Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the nephew of music legend Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, will be performing in a music concert in India organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
Rahat expressed his happiness at getting an opportunity to perform in India.
'I am glad that I will be performing to the audience that understands classical music,' Rahat said, adding that he was striving to preserve and develop the musical legacy of his great uncle.
Rahat further said India and Pakistan shared much in common and the people should concentrate on what bound them together rather than what separated them.
'The people of India and Pakistan should not concentrate on what separates them, rather they should think more about what is common among them and try to strengthen it,' the Daily Times quoted Rahat as saying.
Speaking about the event, the director general of ICCR, Pawan Verma, said, "Rahat is a great artist and the kind of music that he is heir to is very important for the subcontinent".
