Twenty-year-old Sunny Kumar, a first year MBBS student of the Patna Medical College and Hospital, committed suicide by hanging himself after he was allegedly harassed by college seniors.

Kumar was depressed after he was ragged in college, his family told the police.

"Kumar's body was found hanging from the ceiling of his room in a lodge. We have started investigation into the case," a police official said.

The boy's family has filed a first information report at the Sultanganj police station alleging that Kumar was harassed and ragged by seniors in his college, that drove him to commit suicide.

However, officials from the medical college were reluctant to speak on the matter. "The police have been investigating the case. Only they can we say that what led Kumar to end his life," a PMCH official told rediff.com
