Some students were hurt on Friday night when students in favour of the government's reservation proposal for OBCs tried to prevent a rally by the anti-reservation students from entering the Jawahar Lal Nehru campus.
The pro-reservation students, guided by the JNU students leaders from the Left parties, took out their anger against media persons for what they called biased coverage of the issue.
"We don't want the media here. Get the hell out of here," shouted a woman pro-reservation protestor.
Over 5000 students from Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and other neighbouring states are expected to participate in a rally that is being organized by the anti-reservation students in the capital on Saturday morning.
The rally that was scheduled to begin at 8 am from the Maulana Azad Medical College was delayed as more doctors from various states kept arriving to show their solidarity with the striking colleagues from the five medical colleges in Delhi.
The four-member government committee headed by Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee is expected to submit its report to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the afternoon.
The committee has recommended phased implementation of the quota seats and also increasing the number of seats so that the number of seats for general category students is not cut.
