Two alleged terrorists belonging to Khalistan Zindabad Force (Neka group) have been arrested by Punjab police and a large quantity of explosives, including RDX, seized from their possession.
The arrested were identified as Sukhwinder Singh and Sandip Singh of Jalandhar district. They were nabbed near village Karnana T-point on Sunday night, Inspector General of Police, Patiala Zone, Paramjit Singh Gill told reporters.
The alleged kingpin Gurnesh Singh alias Neka is settled in the United States and is still at large, he said.
Gill said that 2.7 kg RDX, three indigenous bombs, three detonators, two timers, two China-made pistols, three magazines and 11 live cartridges were recovered from them.
He said that the terrorists had allegedly smuggled the RDX in February 2010 from Pakistan via Ferozepur border.
"They had concealed it at two places in villages Saifabad and Punia and police recovered it from there after their preliminary interrogation," the IG said.
Gill said that both were wanted in seven snatching cases registered in different parts of Punjab.
"Sukhwinder had also been in jail in a case earlier," he said.
Gill said a high-level team would investigate the matter to know about the plans of the arrested terrorists.
He said that a case under different sections of Indian Penal Code, Explosives Act, Arms Act and Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act was registered against the duo.
