Home Secretary R K Singh has said that though the series of blasts in Pune on Wednesday were very minor in nature, pointed out that the terror angle cannot be ruled out. However, the police are now looking at the injured person as a suspect in the attack and have taken him into custody.
The police have very sketchy details on the suspect. Police sources say that the man, who has been identified as Dayanand Patil, works as a tailor in a nearby store where the blast occurred.
Eywitnesses have claimed that he was carrying a packet with him, which is what led to the suspicion. He has however not been seriously injured, and his questioning has already begun. The police are also looking at the material that was used in the bombs, and have found a timer and detonator from the blast site.
While the bombs were placed in a cake box, the police say that use of ammonium nitrate and batteries also cannot be ruled out at the moment.
The police have also cordoned off all exit points, and a massive hunt is on for the suspects. The police is maintaining that that there could have at least four to five persons involved in planting the bombs.
The Intelligence Bureau has also tipped off the Bihar police who will be conducting their investigation, since the latest module of the Indian Mujahideen was found at Darabanga.
The police are also not ruling out the blasts coinciding with the verdict of the Delhi high court, which on Wednesday extended the ban on Students Islamic Movement of India.
