Prithviraj Chavan arrives in Mumba

Maharashtra Chief Minister-designate Prithviraj Chavan arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday evening from Delhi.

Chavan and Deputy Chief Minister-designate from the Nationalist Congress Party Ajit Pawar are likely to meet Governor K Sankarnarayanan to convey the both parties' decision about electing the new leaders.

The NCP will also be submitting to the Governor their letter of support to Congress. Chavan, Pawar and a few more ministers are expected to be sworn in on Wednesday at a ceremony at Raj Bhawan at 4.30

pm, official sources said.

The Congress sought the support of ally NCP for the newly-elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party Prithviraj Chavan.

Ministers in the outgoing Ashok Chavan government- Harshvardhan Patil, Naseem Khan, Mumbai Congress chief Kripashankar Singh and other office bearers met NCP state president Madhukar Pichad to formally request NCP to support the newly-elected CLP leader.
