President A P J Abdul Kalam Monday said he was toying with the idea of suggesting to the government to explore the possibility of exchange of meritorious students between India and Singapore.
"Given the limited number of seats in top Indian educational institutions, some meritorious students are losing the opportunity to study there," he told accompanying journalists on board the flight from Manila to Seoul.
"I am toying with the idea of taking up with the government if some of these meritorious students can be admitted to National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technology University in the city state," Kalam said adding, "maybe, Singapore will also seek admission for their students in Indian institutions."
The President was optimistic about his idea of the World Knowledge Platform turning into reality as it had captured the imagination of the people of Singapore.
"I am also going to discuss the issue with South Korean leaders. I have paved the way for the World Knowledge Platform becoming a reality," Kalam added.
Referring to his visit to the Philippines, Kalam quoted Filipino President Gloria Arroyo as saying, "Your visit has put the Philippines on India's radar. This was reflected throughout the visit," the President said adding, a strong friendship was developing between India and Philippines.
