Pradeep Kumar appointed new Defence Secretary

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Kumar as Defence Secretary, an official release said in New Delhi.

A 1972-batch officer of Haryana cadre, Kumar will succeed Vijay Singh, who is due to retire on July 31, it said, adding Kumar will have a tenure of two years from the date of taking over the post.

Raj Kumar Singh, a 1975-batch officer of Bihar cadre, will be the next Secretary in the Department of Defence Production.
