In spite of the Janata Dal (Secular) flip-flopping on the issue of power transfer in Karnataka, its ally Bhartiya Janata Party is hopeful that the JD-S will keep its side of the bargain, party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said in New Delhi on Friday.
"Yashwant Sinha (in-charge of party affairs in Karnataka) is a tactful person and he will be talking to the local party leaders first and then to the JD-S to find a solution," Rudy said when asked if the BJP has sent a delegation to Bangalore to sort out the issue with JD-S supremo Deve Gowda.
However, Rudy refused to comment about the resignation of Karnata Tourism Minister Sriramulu, who had alleged that Chief Minister Kumaraswamy tried to kill him. Deve Gowda had suspended talks with the BJP unless the party took action against Sriramulu.
"Have there been any reports that he has resigned? I have not seen any," said Rudy.
He added that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's directive to immediately implement the employment guarantee scheme across the country was a clear indication of Congress preparing for mid-term elections.
"The scheme has been in operation for sometime now. But by going along with Rahul Gandhi, the Congress is going through the exercise of the coronation of the prince as the next prime minister," he said.
