Janakrosh, hunkar and khabardar rallies will be brought out by the Communist Party of India, Bharatiya Janata Party and Communist Party of India-(Marxist-Leninist) in Patna in the next few days. M I Khan reports
The political temperature is hotting up in Patna. The city will see three rallies including one by Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in the next six days.
The stage has been set for people to participate, observe and witness three different rallies named as janakrosh (people’s anger), hunkar (roar) and khabardar (vigilant) in Patna.
The Communist Party of India is organising the janakrosh rally on Friday, which will be followed by Modi’s hunkar rally on Sunday and the khabardar rally by the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) on October 30.
All three rallies will try to mobilise support ahead of the 2014 general elections.
The two main players of state politics -- the ruling Janata Dal-United and the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal of jailed Lalu Prasad Yadav -- are closely watching the show of strength by the three parties.
“CPI’s main purpose of the rally is to awaken people against corruption and create awareness of the dangers of communal frenzy being spread by vested interest,” CPI State Secretary Rajendra Singh said.
CPI workers, mostly student activists, took out a cycle rally in Patna and other parts of the state to invite people to the janakrosh rally.
“We have no money for fuel to use motorcycles or four wheelers. Our workers and activists are using cycles, a symbol of the common man, to mobilise support for the rally,” Singh said.
CPI’s rally will be addressed by party general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy, former general secretary A B Bardhan and party MP Gurudas Dasgupta.
The main focus of BJP’s rally is to promote Narendra Modi and strengthen the party support base among all the sections of caste-ridden Bihar.
“We are doing everything to mobilise a record number of people for the rally. The party is leaving no stone unturned to make it a grand show of strength,” said BJP legislator Nitin Navin.
BJP state president Mangal Pandey said the rally will be historic and prove Modi’s detractors wrong. “Never before has there been such craze to attend a rally to be addressed by Modi,” Pandey said.
After Modi’s rally, the CPI(M-L) will hold a rally to protest the alleged failure of state and central government in checking price rise and increase in incidents of feudal and communal conspiracies in the last few months.” Our rally would be a warning to state and central government to not ignore the common people’s interest,” said party leader Santosh Sahar.
All eyes are on Modi's rally as it will be the first BJP show of strength after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar dumped the BJP over the elevation of Modi in June.
