Four militants belonging to the outlawed Garo National Liberation Army were killed by the Meghalaya police during a special operation conducted in search of a hideout in a remote village in East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.
Police in East Garo Hills district said that they acted on a tip-off about the presence of a large group of militants in a hideout at Mongphangro village under Mendipathar police station. The police launched a search operation early on Thursday morning.
During the operation four militants belonging to the GNLA were killed in an exchange of fire between both the parties, while the rest of the ultras managed to flee. The police have recovered an AK-47 assault rifle and several rounds of live ammunition from the slain GNLA cadres.
