The Communist Party of India Marxist on Tuesday attacked the government for collaborating with Israel and accused it of aiding Tel Aviv's military efforts by launching its spy satellite.
Reacting to the Indian Space Research Organisation launching an Israeli spy satellite from Sriharikota on Monday, the party said the government was maintaining a "shameful silence on the criminal blockade by Israel of Gaza strip"
It added, "The government is collaborating with Israel to enhance its military capability."
"The United Progressive Alliance government should demand an end to the Israeli blockade of the Gaza strip forthwith. It should call for an urgent Security Council session to discuss the matter," the party Politburo said in a statement in New Delhi.
The launch of Israeli satellite TecSar "shows how India is aiding the military efforts of Israel. The satellite has a capability to track activities in Iran and the region."
Maintaining that the Israeli blockade violated all international and humanitarian norms, the CPI-M said that Israel was treating 1.5 million people of the Gaza strip "worse than a colonial power".
The United Nations should immediately intervene and take steps to penalise Israel and see that the blockade is lifted, the party demanded.
