India is expected to hold a high level meeting on the Tahwwur Rana trial once Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh returns from his Africa tour this Saturday. The matters to be discussed by senior officials are Headley's statements and also what stand to be taken on Rana, a source said.

The prime minsiter's delegation to Africa, which comprises of very senior officials including the National Security Advisor is expected to meet early next week. Apart from the Rana/Headley issue, the PM and his team will also be reviewing Monday's Karachi attack.

The source said that the review of the Karachi attack would be done first, following which the Rana trial would be discussed. There are a lot of additional documents that have cropped up during this trial, and India will have to take a call on how to get them to India in order to further their own investigation.

The emphasis would also be on what steps are to be taken next to procure the voice samples of suspects such as Sajid Mir from Pakistan.

A source said that India is constantly reviewing the developments in Chicago. The exercise would also aim to ensure that India is not caught napping in the legal framework.

The top brass will discuss on how to act soon since it is important that India manages to get quick access to Rana and also the newly-produced documents before the court at Chicago.
