#WhereIsRahul? Twitter images set rumour mills abuzz

February 25, 2015 12:49 IST

Images of Rahul Gandhi were posted on Twitter by Congress leader Jagdish Sharma

Where is Rahul Gandhi? The mystery of his whereabouts seems to have been solved. Or maybe not.

Photos of the Congress vice president were circulated on Twitter on Wednesday morning supposedly holidaying in Uttarakhand.

Rahul is on a two-week leave to "reflect upon recent events and the future course of the party”, claims the Congress.

While the party is mum about his whereabouts, a Congress leader Jagdish Sharma, posted some pictures on Twitter saying that Rahul is holidaying in Uttarakhand.  "I posted pictures of Rahulji to debunk the wrong reports that were doing the rounds about him being in Bangkok," Jagdish Sharma told ANI.

Rahul's office claims that these are images from his visit to Uttarakhand in 2008

In one of the photographs, the Congress veep is seen sporting a cap and a sweater, speaking on the phone.

But Rahul’s office has rejected Sharma’s claims. "The claims made by Jagdish Sharma are not true. These pictures were taken when Rahul Gandhi was on an offsite to Uttarakhand in 2008," a statement by Rahul's office said.

According to sources, Rahul is abroad but his location is not known. When the Congress announced his leave on Monday, some reports had said that he had taken a flight to Bangkok last week and then travelled to Greece

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala on Tuesday said Gandhi would be back by March 10, but did not elaborate on where he is.
