Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is in New York, to attract investors in the manufacturing and IT sectors in Maharashtra didn’t feel away from home as he gorged on vada pav.
At a community reception organised by Friends of Maharashtra, a not-for-profit group of individuals, and Indian Consulate of New York at the Pierre Hotel in New York, the Maharashtra CM and his family was welcomed with koli dances and vada pav was on the menu.
On a five-day tour of the US between June 30 and July 4, Fadnavis will project Maharashtra as a destination for industrial investment, pitching for state-of-the-art infrastructure, adequate power in industrial areas and simplified labour legislations.
At the reception called Mumbai meets Manhattan, Mumbai's most popular snack -- the vada pav -- was served. The snack surely would have made the Maharashtra CM not feel too far from home.
Fadnavis was accompanied by his wife and daughter at the grand reception held in his honour.
At the reception, women dressed in colourful outfits entertained the crowds with a traditional koli dance.
Other notable Indians were also present at the reception. Noted comedian Raju Shrivastav tickled the guests' funny bone.
