Mumbai is sure feeling the chill.

On Wednesday, Mumbai’s minimum temperature plunged to 11.6°C, lower than that recorded at the hill station Mahableshwar.

While the minimum was 14 degree Celsius at Mahableshwar, it was 11.6°C at the Mumbai’s suburban weather station, which was also the second lowest minimum recorded in December in over a decade.

Last year, the minimum temperature dipped to the lowest of 12°C on December 15.

The all-time record so far for the month of December has been 10.6 degree Celsius on December 20, 1949.

According to the weather bureau, the cold and dry northwesterly winds have been blowing over the region from Pakistan, forcing temperatures to settle on the lower side.

The situation will be same for some time as minimums and maximums will continue to be below normal for next 24 hours.

And the cool weather has also added to the Christmas cheer for many Mumbaikars.
