Pakistan's Council of Islamic Ideology triggered outrage when it proposed a ridiculous bill about 'beating wives lightly'.

The council advised that husbands could "lightly" beat their wives for offenses like refusing sex, not dressing as her husband wishes or not bathing after sex or menstruation.

It also prohibits female nurses from taking care of male patients, and bans the presence of women in receptions held for visiting foreign dignitaries.

While the bill evoked widespread derision, photographer Fahhad Rajper made a series of powerful photographs of women called #TryBeatingMeLightly featuring Pakistani women of all ages reacting to the bill.
