‘Tis the season to be jolly! But for one hotel in Spain, it’s also the season to be extravagant, ostentatious and over the top.

The Kempinski Hotel Bahia, near Marbella, Spain has put up a Christmas tree adorned with diamond-encrusted decorations and upcycled jewellery from Bulgari and Cartier, making it possibly the world's most expensive one at $15 million (Rs 107 crore).

The fir tree standing tall at 19 feet is designed by Debbie Wingham. It is adorned with ornate ornaments, including red, white, pink and black diamonds, four-carat sapphires and other designer decor. Photograph: Kempinski Hotel Bahia

The tree’s sparklers include over 500 pieces handcrafted with luxury materials from top designers such as Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Bvlgari and Chanel. The tree also features unique martini glasses, feathers, perfume bottles and even 3D printed chocolate peacocks. Photograph: Kempinski Hotel Bahia

Artist Debbie Wingham spent a month making over 500 decorations by hand and is confident that this sparkler will break the record of the most expensive tree -- a record held by The Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi, which had a tree worth $11 million. Photograph: Kempinski Hotel Bahia

Classic decorations such as snowflakes, fairies, nutcrackers and beautifully decorated baubles are also included on the tree. The hotel has ensured there's 24/7 security around it. Photograph: Kempinski Hotel Bahia

The most valuable ornament is an emu egg set in 24-carat gold and doused in diamond dust - which is worth $116,67,900 alone. Photograph: Kempinski Hotel Bahia
