Check Out Indian Railways' 1st Pod Hotel

Union Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, inaugurated the Indian Railways's first pod hotel at the Mumbai Central station.

Passengers and the general public can stay in the pod rooms by paying Rs 999 for 12 hours and Rs 1,999 for 24 hours.

IMAGE: A pod hotel, which was first developed in Japan, features a large number of small bed-sized rooms known as capsules.

 

IMAGE: The facility at the Mumbai Central station consists of 30 Classic Pods, 7 Ladies Only Pods, 10 Private Pods and One Pod for the Differently Abled. 48 Pods in all.

 

IMAGE: While the Classic Pods and Ladies Only Pods cn comfortably fit one guest, the Private Pod has a private space within the room. The Pod for the Differently Abled can comfortably fit 2 guests with space for free movement of a wheelchair.

 

IMAGE: Pod hotels provide affordable, basic, overnight accommodation for guests who do not require or who cannot afford larger, more expensive rooms offered by conventional hotels.

 

IMAGE: The pod hotel at the Mumbai Central station, spread over an area of approximately 3,000 square feet with a mezzanine floor, is located on the first floor of the station building.

 

IMAGE: Passengers can avail free Wi-Fi and use washrooms, luggage and shower rooms in the common area in the hotel premises.

 

IMAGE: Passengers will have access to televisions, mobile charging points and reading lights inside the air-conditioned pod capsules in the hotel.
