Thousands of supporters and party workers of the Shiv Sena from all over Maharashtra visited the Shivaji Park at Dadar, central Mumbai to pay their tributes to former party supremo Bal Thackeray on his third death anniversary.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that a memorial to the late Sena leader will come up at Mayor's bungalow, which is adjacent to Shivaji Park.
Bal Thackeray played a key role in the state as well as national-level politics for decades in his distinctive style for which he became very famous. he died on November 17, 2012 and was cremated at the Shivaji Park.
The 1927-born political cartoonist -- who was the son of journalist, writer and social reformer 'Prabhodhankar' Keshav Sitaram Thackeray -- started Marathi's first political cartoon magazine Marmik in 1960 and established the Shiv Sena in 1966.
