Mumbaikars travelling to work faced a harrowing time on Tuesday morning owing to waterlogging caused by the incessant rain since Monday night.
Vehicular movement and train services across the city were badly affected on Tuesday.
According to media reports, several areas in Mumbai like Hindmata, Parel, Dadar, Bandra, Sion, Colaba, Lalbaugh, Matunga, Mahim, Kurla, Andheri, Jogeshwari, Malad, Ghatkopar, Bhandup have witnessed heavy rainfall since Tuesday morning, making it difficult for commuters.
Incessant rainfall in the past five days has led to severe waterlogging, traffic jams and power cuts in several parts of the city especially in low lying areas like Dadar and Bandra.
Due to heavy rainfall in the city, train services on all the three suburban lines were delayed by 20 to 30 minutes.
Rail services on Central lines have been disrupted as overhead high tension wire snapped at Dadar.
Meanwhile, the weather department has predicted heavy rainfall in Mumbai throughout the day. Till 9 am, the city has witnessed at least 38 mm raifnall since morning.
Earlier on Monday, landslides triggered by heavy rain had blocked the Mumbai-Pune Expressway stopping vehicular traffic. Due to the landslide that took place near Khandala, a popular hill station, authorities had to divert the traffic through the old Mumbai-Pune road.
