At a time when state is reeling under a drought, officials in Karnataka sprinkled two tankers of water on a road for smooth ride for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
As a part of his ongoing tour of drought-hit districts, Siddaramaiah was to visit Badagandi village in Bagalkot district to understand the plight of drought-hit villagers.
However, enroute to the village, road-widening work was going on, causing the road to be dusty. To avoid dust, officials sprinkled two tankers of water on the road leading to the Bilagi Cross and then to Badangadi to welcome the chief minister.
The insensitive act of the officials has angered the villagers who are questioning the need to waste the precious water when people are struggling to get two pots of water every day.
"I will instruct the district collector to enquire about it," said Siddaramaiah when the issue was brought to his notice.
The Karnataka chief minister is already facing criticism for his visit to drought-hit areas with opposition calling the visit 'a photo-op'.
