Vasundhara Raje, who will be sworn in as Rajasthan chief minister on Friday, called the Congress garbage that has been cleaned from the state.
Raje made the comment at a rally in Churu constituency from where party candidate Rajendra Rathore was contesting.
The assembly poll in Churu was cancelled on December 1 following the death of a Bahujan Samajwadi Party candidate after filing his nomination.
Rathore, who spoke before Raje, termed the Congress garbage and told the gathering, “It is a matter of happiness for us that Vasundhara ji is here after cleaning garbage like the Congress from the state.”
When BJP’s Churu candidate finished his speech, Raje came to the dais and said, “Rajendra, I have not removed the garbage (Congress), it is the people of Rajasthan who cleaned it.”
“Now, Ashok Gehlot is not a magician, it is the people of Rajasthan who are,” said Raje referring to chief minister Ashok Gehlot, who comes from a family of magicians.
In Rajasthan politics, Gehlot was considered a magician.
“Some people were saying that we will get 80 or 90 seats, but it was me and a few other people who during the Suraj Sankalp Yatra had seen anger in the eyes of the people. So we are confident of getting more,” she claimed.
Taking a dig at the Congress getting only 21 seats, Raje said, “People gave us 162 seats and them (Congress) only 21 -- to put a kala tika (black mark) on the Congress.
Raje also talked about the margin of votes in the assembly polls. “After voting, people claimed of winning with over 20,000 votes, and when the results came I realised it was true. It was not only 20, 30 but people won with over 60 thousands votes.”
She appealed to the gathering to break all records of highest margin in this poll.
Significantly, her biggest critic Ghanshyam Tiwari has won with the highest margin of over 65,000 votes. Rathore, for whom she is seeking votes to win with a record margin, is considered her right hand.
