Cops seek review of Parliament attack case ruling

September 05, 2005 11:43 IST
The Delhi police has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a review of the acquittal of Delhi University lecturer S A R Geelani in the Parliament attack case.

The police has also sought enhancement of the 10-year sentence awarded to Shaukat Hussain Guru as well as the review of his wife Navjot Sandhu alias Afsan Guru's acquittal in the

case.

In the petition, 40 grounds have been listed by the police for review of the verdict.

The Supreme Court had last month upheld the death penalty awarded by a trial court to Jaish-e-Mohammed militant Mohamed Afzal but reduced it in the case of his cousin Shaukat Hussain Guru to 10 years imprisonment, besides acquitting his wife Afsan Guru and Geelani.
