The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the bail petition of controversial Rashtriya Janata Dal member of Parliament Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav who is facing trial for his alleged involvement in the murder of Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Ajit Sarkar.
"Under the fact and circumstances of the case, we do not find merit in his appeal," a Bench comprising Justice S B Sinha and Justice Markandeya Katju said dismissing the bail petition challenging the Patna high court order.
The Bench said no further application relating to Yadav's bail will be considererd by any court. It also directed the trial court to commence day-to-day hearing for expeditiously concluding the trial of the case.
Yadav is an RJD MP from Madhepura who was shifted from a Patna jail to Tihar prison in Delhi.
Sarkar was allegedly murdered by Yadav and his henchmen in Purnia district of Bihar in 1998.
