The book titled -- Dus juta mar lo lekin bahubali mat bolo -- is an attempt by the former MP to get rid of his tarnished image. In Bihar, bahubali is a term to describe criminals turned politicians, known for their muscle power.
"Pappu Yadav is writing a book and this was revealed when the police conducted a raid of his cell following complaints that he often made threat calls from his mobile phone. When the police tried to seize his diary he said that he was noting down important incidents from his life, as he intended to write a book," a jail official told rediff.com, requesting anonymity.
A ruling Janata Dal-United leader close to Yadav has confirmed that he was writing a book to give a real account of his life. "He is writing a book to prove himself innocent," he said.
S Lande, superintendent of police, Patna who carried out raid in the library ward of Beur jail, was also taken by surprise when Yadav requested him not to open and read his diary.
When we got hold of Yadav's personal diary, he not only protested but also engaged in a verbal duel with officers. His diary was returned to him so he can continue writing the book," said Lande.
Another jail official, who frequently interacted with Yadav, said the former MP told him time and again that he was writing a book, as he did not want people to remember him as a don or bahubali. "He said he will try to pen every incident of his life honestly," the official said.
