December 02, 2010 22:48 IST
Pakistani troops on Thursday violated the ceasefire yet again as they fired indiscriminately on Indian forward posts along the line of control in Poonch district.

Pakistani troops from their forward defence locations opened indiscriminate firing on several Indian forward posts along the LoC in Krishna Ghati sub-sector of Poonch district around 1315 hrs, an army officer at 16 Corps said. They also fired rocket projectile grenades on the Indian posts, provoking retaliation by the troops on this side of the border.

The cross-border firing continued till 1400 hrs, he said, adding the firing from Pakistan resumed at 1430 hrs and was on when the reports last came in. There was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing, he said.

Pakistan troops fired from their forward posts of Dhaku, Piple, 663 Mujahids on India's forward defence posts of Kranti, Kranti-1, Chajja, Mahant, Roshni and Nangi Tikri along LoC in Poonch district.

There have been a series of ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir in recent months to facilitate infiltration attempts by militants.
