Carrying a message of peace and brotherhood, 34 members of Parliament on Saturday left for Pakistan to hold discussions with a wide spectrum of political and social leaders, including President Pervez Musharraf.

The MPs took the Swarna Shatabdi Express to Amritsar and are scheduled cross the border at the Wagah check-post sometime in the afternoon.

Rashtriya Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad Yadav, Congress leaders Margaret Alva and Mani Shankar Aiyar and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Balbir Punj are part of this delegation.

The MPs said they hoped to meet as many people as possible and would try to bridge the gap between the two countries.
