Eight civilians including three children were injured in heavy Pakistan firing in Jammu on Thursday evening.

A senior police officer said Pakistani Rangers opened heavy fire and resorted to shelling in the Kanachak and Akhnoor areas of Jammu.

“Eight civilians including three children were injured in the shelling which is still continuing. The injured were evacuated to hospital for treatment,” the officer said.

The renewed shelling has triggered panic among the residents living near the International Border in Jammu.

The officer said Pakistan Rangers targeted the border outposts manned by the paramilitary border security force.

The BSF retaliated the Pakistani fire with same calibre weapons.
