Pak army chief promises jobs to former Taliban fighters

Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kayani has promised jobs for former Taliban fighters.

Addressing youths at Rastoon, a rehabilitation-training centre for youths involved in terrorism, Kayani said a peaceful Swat was in the best interests of all, the Daily Times reported.

He said security forces had fought the war against terrorism for the people of Swat to secure them from terrorists, and that the army would stay in Swat until people's confidence was restored.

Kayani also told the youth, who had spent time with terrorists, that they were being given quality education and good training in the centre to become good citizens, and that the forces would also try to provide them with good jobs.
