Four security personnel were killed on Sunday and three more injured when their vehicle hit a landmine in the restive Balochistan province of southwest Pakistan, officials said.

The personnel from the paramilitary Frontier Corps were escorting a convoy of a private energy company when the vehicle hit the landmine in Sui area, 400 km from the Balochistan capital of Quetta.

Four personnel were killed instantly, officials told the media.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Private companies engaged in oil and gas exploration in Balochistan are provided protection by the Frontier Corps.

Baloch militant groups have targetted convoys of such firms in recent attacks.
