Over 87 pc Indians think Modi's policies make sense: survey

A Harvard school study has adjudged Prime Minister Narendra Modi as one of the four global leaders who enjoy high levels of confidence in handling both domestic and international affairs.

Modi emerges on the top of the list when it comes to citizens approving the development strategy of their respective countries. He enjoys 87.8 percent approval for while USA President Barack Obama is ranked 20th with 44.8 percent and the UK Prime Minister David Cameron 15th with 51.5 approval.

The other three on this list are German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian Premier Vladimir Putin, according to government sources.

The report titled 'Reflections on a Survey of Global Perceptions of International Leaders and World Powers' by Harvard's Kennedy School of Government asked citizens across 30 countries of the world to give their views on 10

influential leaders having a global impact.

When it comes to domestic confidence in leaders on handling domestic and international affairs in the 10 key countries, Russia, UK, China, France, USA, Germany, Japan Brazil, India and South Africa, Modi comes an impressive second, with a confidence rating of 93.2 percent on handling of domestic affairs and 93.3 percent for international affairs.

In the list of 30 countries, Modi comes third behind Merkel and Xi. Modi's popularity is greater than that of President Xi in 18 of the 30 nations where the survey took place.
