Tension heightened in Osmania University campus on Tuesday after another student committed suicide in protest against the delay in formation of Telangana state.

Sai Kumar, a first year engineering student, hanged himself from a roof of university hostel on Tuesday morning.

He was taken to a hospital where he breathed his last.

In a suicide note left behind, Sai Kumar said he had decided to end his life as a protest against the "traitor" politicians of Telangana who were responsible for the indefinite delay in the formation of the separate state.

"I am committing suicide for the sake of Telangana," the letter said.

He wished that his funeral procession should be taken out from Osmania University to the state assembly to bring pressure on the legislators from Telangana to resign.

Sai Kumar, who hailed from Kodad town in Nalgonda district, is the third youth to commit suicide in Osmania University campus in the last three months.

As the news of suicide spread in the campus, students came out in large numbers shouting slogans in support of Telangana and condemning the politicians.

Another student from Nalgonda district, Venugopala Reddy, had immolated himself in the campus on January 19 in support of Telangana.

A junior college student, Yadaiah of Ranga Reddy district, had immolated himself on February 20 on the university campus.
