1 killed in militant attack on telecom franchisee in J-K

Militants attacked a house, the premises of which housed a telecom tower in north Kashmir Sopore town on Tuesday evening, killing the house owner.

A senior police officer said that Ghulam Hassan Dar, the house owner succumbed to injuries after militants opened fire at the house in Dooru village near Sopore town, 54 kms from Srinagar.

He said that a mobile tower was located in the compound of Dar's house.

This is the second attack in as many days in Sopore town against a telecom company. An employee of another such company was killed on Monday when militants opened fire at its outlet in the town.

Two other employees who were injured in the attack are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Senior police officers along with reinforcements have rushed to the spot.
