Ruling Biju Janata Dal memver of Legislative Assembly Subarna Nayak was arrested today for allegedly slapping and misbehaving with a woman homeguard.

Nayak was arrested following a first information report filed against him by Babita Lenka that he had slapped and misbehaved with her over parking a vehicle on national highway 215 passing through the town on Saturday, the police said.

The legislator from Keonjhar Sadar was produced before a local court which granted him bail on a personal bond for Rs 15,000.

In her FIR, Lenka said she was on duty in the area and an altercation broke out between her and Nayak over parking of vehicle on the road.

In course of argument, the MLA allegedly slapped her in public view and threatened her with dire consequences if she dared to complain against him, she alleged in the FIR.

Refuting the allegation, the MLA termed the whole incident as politically motivated. "I have neither slapped nor misbehaved with anybody. Rather the homeguard hurled  abusive words at me," Nayak said.
