'Odd' excuses to escape 'Odd-Even' formula

January 06, 2016 08:53 IST

With the Delhi government's 'Odd-even' car rationing formula rolling out from January 1st, some Delhiites on Tuesday came up with strange excuses to evade the law.

The Delhi Traffic Police and other agencies have till now pulled up 1,997 vehicles for violation of the 'Odd-Even' scheme.

Offenders, though, keep coming up with some really strange and funny excuses.

When a woman named Sunita was caught, she claimed to be the wife of a high-ranked officer and tried to escape. Although, the car she possessed was CNG, but it was without the sticker.

Another Delhi resident, who claimed to be lawyer named Harjit Singh, said that he was piled with so many cases that he didn't notice the date.

Similarly, a married couple when caught said that they bought a new car and the showroom dealer didn't issue the number.

If the plan, currently in its trial phase, is successful and pollution levels see a reduction the government could well extend the scheme.

The odd-even scheme was launched January 1 to curb rising vehicular pollution and will continue till 15th of this month on trial basis.
