India sets up Strategic Forces Command

India on Saturday established its first Strategic Forces Command and approved appointment of a commander-in-chief to manage and administer all nuclear and strategic forces.

A decision to this effect was taken at a two-hour long meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security chaired by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
