Terror threat: N-installations put on high alert

Last updated on: November 16, 2009 16:47 IST

Nuclear establishments in the country have been put on high alert after intelligence inputs have warned of a possible terror threat.

The intercepts come in the wake of investigations into the Headley-Rana case. Highly placed sources told rediff.com that sensitive nuclear installations in Maharashtra and Gujarat could come under attack.

The Centre has alerted the respective state governments to beef up security in such establishments. Investigations have revealed Headley had conducted a survey -- besides taking a video footage -- around the highly protected areas.  Headley, it is said, travelled to the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in Trombay near Mumbai and the Kakrapar plant.

The police also found maps of vital installations with a Pakistani person who was arrested in New Delhi on Sunday.
