The Uttar Pradesh police are busy trying to cover up the gang rape of a helpless seven-year-old girl in a village of Muzaffarnagar district.
The victim was stated to have gone to the field to answer the call of nature when she was pounced upon by three goons in Rawlia Nagla village, about 30 km from the district headquarter, on Sunday.
It was only after a hunt was launched by the victim’s parents that the child was discovered in the fields.
The parents rushed her to the local hospital in Muzaffarnagar where she is struggling for survival.
Police have arrested one of the three accused while the other two are still at large. Meanwhile, cops are trying to float a theory that the girl was “not gang-raped”.
According to Muzaffarnagar superintendent of police, "The girl was enticed by a local villager who knew the victim and raped her. It is not a case of gang rape."
Stung by a spate of gang rapes ever since the gruesome Budaun case in which two minor sisters were gang raped, murdered and hung from a tree on May 27 last, the Akhilesh Yadav government is out to downplay every incident of heinous crimes against women.
